Quality starts with choice
About the Wood
I buy wood in southern Europe because there are high standards and traditions of natural drying of wood. It is dried in a dry, sunny climate for 5 years at least to a maximum humidity of 10%. I go for it myself and personally select the slabs. Southern oak has a darker color than ordinary oak, Southern maple is almost completely white.
About Manual Processing
All products are 100% handmade. The contours are drawn and cut by hand. Sanding, coating, C-profiles, legs – everything is done by hand.
About C-Profiles and Fasteners
C-profiles are necessary to prevent the tabletop from warping. When the surrounding humidity changes, the wood can expand or contract. C-profiles allow the wood to slide along the surface of the profile, but not to bend.
About Varnishes and Coatings
I prefer to varnish the pieces. Open epoxy is easily scratched and water penetrates the wood. Varnish gives a very hard and waterproof finish.
The currently popular oil coating prevents water from penetrating the wood only for the first time. As most oil manufacturers claim, the coating must be renewed every 3 years. Therefore, if you forgot to renew the oil and spilled coffee on the table, the stain may actually remain forever. Also, unvarnished wood absorbs moisture more actively and expands more, which increases the risk of cracking and warping.
